According to the National Association of Realtors $153 billion in foreign purchases were made last year. That was an incredible 49% increase over the prior year. The top five countries represented were (numbers are rounded):
#5: India: $8 billion
#4: Mexico: $9 billion
#3: England: $10 billion
#2: Canada: $19 billion
#1: China: $32 billion
Here were the top five states for foreign buyers:

#4: New Jersey
#3: California
#2: Texas

In Florida, Canadians were the biggest buyers, which was even more impressive when you consider the weak Canadian dollar.
