Real-estate records fall with record interest in Florida from abroad

Real-estate records fall with record interest in Florida real-estate from abroad:

Bottom Line: Last year was a record year for foreigners buying up property across the country and Florida was the biggest beneficiary. According to the National Association of Realtors $153 billion in foreign purchases were made last year. That was an incredible 49% increase over the prior year. The top five countries represented were (numbers are rounded):

#5: India: $8 billion

#4: Mexico: $9 billion

#3: England: $10 billion

#2: Canada: $19 billion

#1: China: $32 billion

Here were the top five states for foreign buyers:

#5: Arizona

#4: New Jersey

#3: California

#2: Texas

#1: Florida

In Florida, Canadians were the biggest buyers, which was even more impressive when you consider the weak Canadian dollar. With the US Dollar have dipped recently, we're likely going to see even greater foreign interest in our real-estate around the country but especially in Florida and especially in South Florida.
