  • A day after Tobacco Free Florida indicated 25% of Florida’s high school students have vaped, comes the latest report from the Florida Department of Health on vaping illnesses. 87 have now been diagnosed statewide, an additional nine over the past week. The national total now stands at 2,051.
  • According to Florida Trend, the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro (which includes all of Dade north through Tequesta), is now producing more than $350 billion in GDP annually, has become the second largest international banking location in the US and is now home to 1,400+ international companies doing business in 75 countries. 
  • The recent resurgence of Red Tide had led to a growing problem up Florida’s gulf coast. A week ago red tide had only been identified in Collier and Lee counties. FWC has now discovered “high concentrations” in Sarasota and Charlotte counties as well.
  • Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit Court ruled Orlando detectives should be able to access DNA profiles from GEDmatch, which competes with Ancestry and 23andMe after detectives submitted evidence that the DNA information could help them solve the case of a serial rapist.
