Top Three Takeaways – October 25th, 2021

1. Poetic Justice. With baseball being my first love and as a product of suburban Atlanta, I’ve been a lifelong Braves fan. As per usual I had the MLB package so I could watch my team throughout the season. This year, that ended after the first game. That’s because between the first and second game of the season Major League Baseball decided to cave to the lies of the woke race-baiting Marxist Stacy Abrams regarding Georgia’s new voting law – the tenants of which majorities of all Americans support – including Blacks and, in the name of race, pulled the All-Star game out of majority Black Atlanta – which has the highest percentage of Black-owned businesses of any large city in the country – moving it instead to the lily-White land of Denver. As had been the case with the NFL previously, at the point where politics precludes the entertainment, I’m out. Election integrity is far more important than any form of entertainment and with my favorite team and the city I grew up in getting caught in the crosshairs I checked out. That meant cancelling my package (and actually cutting the cord which worked out beautifully in the process). So, I watched exactly one game this year, the first one, until Saturday night. I woke up Saturday morning thinking about the poetic justice of the Atlanta Braves winning the NLCS while chopping their way to the biggest stage in the sport – further aggravating the woke politically correct crowd. The thought wasn’t just an entertaining one...
2. It was invigorating. I wanted the Braves to win anyway. This would be the baseball equivalent of having your cake and eating it too. So, I took out a Sling subscription so we could get the game Saturday night and while in years gone by Ashley and I would have been in the stands chopping away – it was every bit as entertaining to watch it unfold at home given the reasons I’ve mentioned. So now the woke-social justice warrior moron, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, has to watch the team, the city and the state he screwed - on the biggest stage – the only one bigger than the All-Star game. The only better outcome here is for Atlanta to win the World Series at home as the jack-wagon would have to hand the trophy to the team in the stadium he boycotted. For me Saturday was a win-win. The Braves have made baseball fun again for me by delivering the most poetic justice possible to the woke moron who stole the joy away to start the season. As Georgia Governor Brian Kemp tweeted out Saturday night. While Stacey Abrams and the MLB stole the All-Star Game from hardworking Georgians, the Braves earned their trip to the World Series this season and are bringing it home to Georgia. #ThisIsWhyWeChop. This has the potential to be the most satisfying World Series ever from where I sit - speaking of which... With games 3, 4 & 5 being in Atlanta next weekend – Ashley and I just might have to go sit in the stadium the way we used to chopping away with visions of Manfred dancing in our heads. 
3. July 1st. That’s the last day we averaged as few cases of COVID-19 in Florida as we are today. That’s not the case nationally. While cases are down from peak levels across the country – led by the decline in Florida specifically, the country is experiencing the average number of cases it was during the final few days of July – right in the mist of the summer surge of Delta cases. Day after day, and now week after week there’s increasing evidence that the “virus is going to virus”. That’s not to say mitigation factors aren’t helpful – they are – but it’s also to say that in the end we can’t control the trajectory of the virus but rather can only attempt to bend it. Florida currently is among the bottom five states for new population adjusted cases. Don’t expect to hear news media, at the national or state or local levels spending time discussing this as it doesn’t fit their narrative that DeSantis is a reckless bogeyman, the virus can be controlled by lockdowns and mandates and South Florida’s school districts are right to violate parental rights and thus Florida’s law over mask-mandates. But as always there are two sides to stories and one side to facts. The virus trajectory as well is another form of poetic justice.
