Top Three Takeaways ā€“Ā OctoberĀ 25th, 2021

  1. Poetic Justice.Ā With baseball being my first love and as a product of suburban Atlanta, Iā€™ve been a lifelong Braves fan. As per usual I had the MLB package so I could watch my team throughout the season. This year, that ended after the first game. Thatā€™s because between the first and second game of the season Major League Baseball decided to cave to the lies of the woke race-baiting Marxist Stacy AbramsĀ regarding Georgiaā€™s new voting law ā€“Ā the tenants of which majorities of all Americans supportĀ ā€“Ā includingĀ BlacksĀ and, in the name ofĀ race, pulled the All-Star game out ofĀ majorityĀ Black Atlanta ā€“ which has the highest percentage of Black-owned businesses of any large city in the country ā€“Ā moving it instead to the lily-White land of Denver.Ā As had been the case with the NFL previously, at the point where politicsĀ precludesĀ theĀ entertainment,Ā Iā€™m out.Ā Election integrity is far more important than any form of entertainment and with my favorite teamĀ and the city I grew up in getting caught in theĀ crosshairsĀ I checked out.Ā That meant cancellingĀ my package (andĀ actually cuttingĀ the cordĀ which worked out beautifullyĀ in the process). So, I watched exactly one game thisĀ year, the first one,Ā until Saturday night. I woke up Saturday morning thinking about the poetic justiceĀ ofĀ the Atlanta BravesĀ winning the NLCS while chopping their way to the biggest stage in the sport ā€“ further aggravating the woke politically correct crowd. The thought wasnā€™t just an entertaining one...
  2. It wasĀ invigorating. I wanted the Braves to win anyway. This would be the baseball equivalent of having your cake and eating it too. So, I took out a Sling subscription so we could get the game Saturday night and while in years gone byĀ Ashley and I would have been in the stands chopping away ā€“ it was every bit as entertaining to watch it unfold at home given the reasonsĀ Iā€™veĀ mentioned. So now the woke-social justice warrior moron, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred,Ā has toĀ watch the team, theĀ cityĀ and the state he screwedĀ -Ā on the biggestĀ stage ā€“Ā the only one bigger than the All-Star game. The only better outcome here is for Atlanta to win the World Series at home as the jack-wagon would have to handĀ the trophy to the team in the stadium he boycotted. For meĀ Saturday was a win-win. The Braves have made baseball fun againĀ for me by delivering the most poetic justice possible to the woke moron who stoleĀ the joy away to start the season.Ā As Georgia Governor Brian KempĀ tweeted outĀ Saturday night.Ā While Stacey Abrams and the MLB stole the All-Star Game from hardworking Georgians, the Braves earned their trip to the World Series this season and are bringing it home to Georgia.Ā #ThisIsWhyWeChop.Ā This has the potential to be the most satisfying World Series ever from where I sitĀ - speaking of which... With games 3, 4 & 5 being in Atlanta next weekend ā€“ Ashley and I just might have to go sit in the stadium the way we used toĀ chopping awayĀ with visions of Manfred dancing in our heads.Ā
  3. July 1st.Ā Thatā€™sĀ the last day we averaged as fewĀ cases of COVID-19Ā in Florida as we are today.Ā Thatā€™sĀ not the case nationally. While cases are down from peak levels across the country ā€“ led by the decline in Florida specifically, the country is experiencing theĀ average number of cases it was during the final few days of July ā€“ right in the mist of the summer surge of Delta cases. Day after day, and now week after weekĀ thereā€™sĀ increasing evidence that theĀ ā€œvirus is going to virusā€.Ā Thatā€™sĀ not to sayĀ mitigationĀ factorsĀ arenā€™tĀ helpful ā€“ they are ā€“ butĀ itā€™sĀ also to say that in the end weĀ canā€™tĀ control the trajectory of the virusĀ butĀ rather canĀ onlyĀ attemptĀ to bend it.Ā Florida currently is among theĀ bottom five statesĀ for new population adjusted cases. Donā€™t expect to hearĀ newsĀ media, at the national or state or local levels spendingĀ time discussing this as it doesnā€™t fit their narrative that DeSantis is a reckless bogeyman,Ā the virus can be controlled byĀ lockdownsĀ and mandates and South Floridaā€™s school districts are right toĀ violateĀ parental rights and thus Floridaā€™s law over mask-mandates. But as always there are two sides to stories and one side to facts. The virus trajectory as well is another form of poetic justice.Ā
