Top Three Takeaways – November 19th, 2021

  1. We expect Florida businesses to comply with Florida law. Pretty straightforward. Those are the words of Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez yesterday as she answered my question as to what Florida’s businesses should expect with Governor DeSantis signing Florida’s ban on vaccine mandates into law in a very festive Brandon. Most specifically, what this means is that in the state of Florida, regardless of what happens with the OSHA rule, businesses must offer five vaccine mandate opt-outs including consideration for medical and religious exemptions in addition to one’s pregnancy or expected pregnancy status. It also means that if businesses want testing programs in place, they, not the employees, must pay for them (which is the inverse of the OSHA rule). As for those wondering about the impact of the OSHA rule and whether there’s a legal showdown looming between the Biden administration and the state...not for now at least. With the OSHA rule currently being deemed illegal and unenforceable pending additional court action – Florida's law is the law. Btw, that also means it’s illegal for any public employer in the state of Florida to mandate COVID-19 vaccines. I’m looking at you Anne Gannon. While there may be other rouge governments in Florida, Palm Beach County’s Tax Collector is currently breaking the law. That’s because we live in the free state of Florida and Governor DeSantis has balls. No really, he’s selling golf balls on his campaign website. You’ll see that Florida’s Governor has a pair. And Florida has...
  2. GOP superiority. For the first time on record officially. Florida’s State Department released the updated voter registration information representing all registered voters as of the end of October. In 1978, at the peak of the Democrat’s power in Florida, there were 1,633,546 more registered Democrats than Republicans in Florida. Today there are 4,318 more registered Republicans. With NPA’s generally breaking for Republicans over the past thirty years in Florida, it appears likely that Florida’s conversion from a swing state to a red state may nearly be complete. Especially should these longer-term trends hold through next year’s election cycle which is shaping up to be a historically good one for Republicans nationally, let alone in Florida. The era of GOP superiority has arrived in Florida. And now it’s time to Make America Florida.
  3. Thank you. Most sincerely. I’m taking next week off, aside from guesting for Mark Levin a week from today, to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family...that is the rest of my family. There’s never a day I take for granted that I talk into a microphone for a living. It’s because of you that all of this works. This Thanksgiving I remain as grateful as ever to you. This is teamwork and we’re part of something pretty special. Happy Thanksgiving and May God bless you and your family.
