President Biden’s Approval Rating Hits Record Low in Florida

Bottom Line: Record high gas prices, 41-year high inflation, increased violence, border crisis, geopolitical crises...we do not approve. That much is clear. Yesterday in my Top 3 Takeaways I said this: Joe Biden’s current approval rating in Florida is back to being at record lows. Sporting just 34% approval compared to 57% disapproval – it appears that just about the only people who still roll with Joe are last year’s six-masked hermits who potentially are still wearing three masks and haven’t emerged from their closet to see the full effect of Bidenflation. Of course, the snarky reference, popularized by Governor DeSantis last year, isn’t exactly the explanation for what’s happened here as President Biden’s reached a record low approval rating in our state. This led me to taking a deeper dive into the scope of Joe Biden’s problems and the implications for the midterm elections.

While low poll numbers nationally are one thing, what really matters is what’s happening in individual states. As we look at individual states, we’ll start with Florida where Biden’s approval rating is at the aforementioned 34%. His net approval rating currently sits at a negative 23% in our state. Yikes, with ratings that low, you might imagine the disapproval is broad-based and it is. Joe Biden has net disapproval all of the following groups currently:

  • Voters of every age
  • Voters of every education level
  • Voters of both genders.
  • Asians, Hispanics/Latinos, Whites
  • Independents/NPA’s & Republicans

Here’s where he retains net positive approval in Florida

  • Democrats
  • Blacks

Looking beyond our state, the biggest story is where he does still have net positive approval. The answer is next to nowhere. The only states Biden maintains a net positive approval rating are Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Vermont. That’s right, that’s it. Not California where his approval rating is 42%. Not New York where his approval rating is just 41%. As I outlined earlier this year, any election won by a Democrat by 9 or fewer points two years ago would likely flip to a Republican today. Any election won by a Democrat by up to 18 points would be in play. With the state specific polling that’s continuing to pour in as Election Day comes closer – we could be closer to the 18-point swing than the 9.
