Record Republican Advantage - Florida’s Voter Registration by Party
Bottom Line: The Florida Division of Elections latest voter registration update is in reflecting all voter registrations as of the start of June. It turned out to be a month with more purging of voters no longer eligible to vote in Florida – which outnumbered the number of new voters registering. That said, the news continued to be positive for Republicans, while it is increasingly problematic for Florida’s Democrats. After a year in which Florida’s Democrats lost hundreds of thousands of registered voters, it's been more of the same through the first five months of this midterm election year.
While the most popular choice for newly registered or reregistered voters remains none-of-the-above (NPAs) this year, Republicans fared best last month. With gains being posted elsewhere – it speaks to the general and still growing displeasure with Democrats in Florida.
These are the changes in year-to-date voter registration information:
- DEM: -120,859 (-47,752 last month)
- GOP: +11,950 (-6,253 last month)
- NPA/Other: +45,337 (-7,467 last month)
The current breakout of registered voters looks like this...
- DEM: 34.9%
- GOP: 36.1%
- NPA/Other: 29%
The Republican voter registration advantage over Democrats is now 175,911 voters. That’s an advantage which grew by an additional 41,499 voters over the past month alone. For comparison's sake, Democrats held a 97,215-voter advantage coming out of the 2020 Election Cycle. This supports the notion that Florida’s increasingly moving from being a purple state into a red-state territory and just in time for what’s shaping up to be a historically good midterm election cycle for Republicans.
