- Gas prices have fallen another three cents per gallon to sit at exactly $4 on average statewide today. In Southeast Florida prices range from a low of $4.11 per gallon in Miami-Dade, to $4.26 per gallon in the Palm Beaches.
- Florida’s COVID-19 count continued lower as well on Wednesday. With just over 11,100 new cases reported, Florida’s weekly trend for daily cases has fallen to 10,633 – the lowest since July 10th.
- Florida’s Demographic Estimating Conference has produced its latest report regarding Florida migration and population trends. The updated estimate shows Florida is set to grow its population a bit slower from here than we’ve expected since the onset of the pandemic. According to the latest update, Florida’s pacing 808 new residents per day, down from 849 previously. The two leading reasons cited for the change were, a slowing down in migration due to the pandemic, and fewer babies being born in Florida.
- Governor DeSantis proposed legislation for the 2023 state legislative session that would ban the use of ESG, or environmental, social, and corporate governance. ESG standards – which have become widely used by firms within the United States, emerged from Communist/Socialist governments – including China. Under the governor’s proposal, the state would prohibit the use of related standards by financial institutions when evaluating access to financial products for Floridians. Additionally, the state would be banned from using ESG criteria when investing state resources.
