Woke Prosecutors, Violent Criminals & The Queen – Top 3 Takeaways – September 9th, 2022

  1. Who could have seen this one coming? Perhaps one of the most inaptly named systems in our society is the “corrections system”. It seldom seems there’s a whole of “correcting” that goes on in there. And that’s not meant to be a knock generally on those who run our corrections facilities, it’s more of a statement on those who reside in them. The saying about not being able to help people who won’t help themselves applies here. While there are no doubt people who enter the corrections system, realize the errors of their ways, and seek to live a better life, you need look no further than the daily news to see seemingly endless accounts of those who’ve been anything but “corrected”. The two murderous attacks in Memphis over the past week have been prime examples of everything that’s wrong within the ever increasingly woke criminal justice system these days. As we’ve come to learn, the evil murderer responsible for the abduction and murder of Eliza Fletcher last Friday should never have been on the streets. With a rap sheet as long as my arm (12 priors – five violent including rape), the attacker had been issued a 24-year sentence for the abduction and robbery of an attorney. According to the court's order he was to serve 100% of that sentence. But that didn’t happen. Why? He was given “program credits” during his time which resulted in shaving four years off of his term. Had he not received these “prison credits”, he’d still be in jail for four more years and Eliza Fletcher would still be alive today. Wednesday’s series of shootings was simply more of the same. The perp in that series of shootings had an even more absurd sentencing and serving situation. After originally having been charged with murder in 2020, but later having prosecutors reduce the charge to aggravated assault, which he pled guilty to. Because, you know, assault – murder, what’s really the difference, right? But even then, when sentenced to three years he was made to serve only 11 months of it. Because you know, credits and things like that. So having just been released, while not even serving a third of his sentence, on a dramatically reduced charge, here we are. An evil, murderous punk, killing innocent people. So yeah, who could have seen this one coming?
  2. Except that more violence from convicted violent offenders should always be the expectation. Trivia time. What percentage of violent offenders released from prison are rearrested for violent crimes... 64%. Yep, two-thirds, two stinking thirds of violent criminals commit more violent crimes given the opportunity to do so. As a society, with that inconvenient truth for the woke ones in hand, how could we ever error on the side of shorter sentences for these individuals? This isn’t even a question about second chances. This is simply about violent criminals actually serving the sentence assigned for their crimes. If that simple, logical, fact-based reality were considered, all of those victims in Memphis would be alive. But as you well know, it extends well beyond Memphis. When was the last time you heard of a heinous crime making national news that didn’t involve someone with a bunch of priors? It happens every day, in various ways, clear across the country. And what we know is that for every three violent criminals released back on the streets, two of them will be back to violently victimizing innocent people. It’s my hope that everyone finds faith in God, repents for their sins and lives a better life. But the reality is that’s anything but the norm inside of our correctional system. A bunch of woke policies have brought us to the point where a lot of innocent people are dying from them. It's time our society wakes up and faces reality. Future victims are being created today based on those being released prematurely from prisons today.
  3. Long lived the Queen. And a life well lived. While I’ve never been the type who's into “palace intrigue” with the royal family I’ve always had a great deal of respect for Queen Elizabeth II, a true throwback who transcended generations with faith in the forefront of her life and unrelenting values she held firm to. You know, the anthesis of what Harry and Megan represent for example. While many will talk about her hats and how well she was liked generally, to me when I think of the Queen I’m reminded of Winston Churchill, her friend and tutor who helped save the world from Hitler. Upon her coronation, when the Labor Party leftists and opportunists within his own party were attempting to throw Winston overboard as Prime Minister once and for all, she remained loyal to Winston, using her influence to gracefully put an end to the efforts and allowing Churchill to retire years later on his own terms. Upon his resignation she wrote a letter to Churchill stating: (No future prime minister would) be able to hold the place of my first prime minister to whom both my husband and I owe so much and for whose wise guidance during the early years of my reign I shall always be so profoundly grateful. Churchill said this in his final toast upon retiring: Never have the august duties which fall upon the British monarch been discharged with more devotion than in the brilliant opening to your Majesty’s reign. We thank God for the gift he has bestowed upon us and vow ourselves anew to the sacred cause, and wise and kindly way of life of which your Majesty is the young, gleaming champion. Brilliant and beautiful words which she always lived up to. And so yeah, now there’s Charles and Camila. It doesn’t have quite the same feel, and they don’t quite carry the same values, do they? If the monarch were elected something tells me William and Kate would be King and Queen today.
