- Gas prices are 12 cents higher statewide than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded is $3.33 per gallon, as prices continued to rise through the weekend. In Southeast Florida prices range from a low of $3.36 per gallon in Miami-Dade, to an average high of $3.50 per gallon in the Palm Beaches. The recent increase in prices is close to mitigating the benefit of the state’s suspension of the 25.3 cent per gallon gas tax during October.
- Florida entered this week with the lowest trend for new COVID-19 cases since March. Florida’s weekly trend for daily cases is currently averaging around 1,400.
- With just over four weeks to go to Election Day, over 94,000 vote-by-mail ballots have been returned to election supervisors, according to the Florida Division of Elections. Palm Beach County to lead the state in votes cast by mail followed by Miami-Dade.
- Entering this week all FPL customers impacted by Hurricane Ian in Florida have had their power restored. Over 2.5 million FPL customers had been without power at the peak of impact. However, local government run power companies are still reporting outages, including the Lee County Electric Cooperative with over 46,000 outages still reported.
