- Gas prices are continuing to surge higher once again. The average price for regular unleaded is now $3.35 per gallon - 5 cents higher than yesterday and 22 cents higher than a week ago. In Southeast Florida prices range from a low of $3.40 per gallon in Miami-Dade to an average high of $3.53 per gallon in the Palm Beaches. The recent increase in prices has completely mitigated the benefit of the state’s suspension of the 25.3 cent per gallon gas tax during October.
- Florida’s trend for COVID-19 cases has reached the lowest level in over six months. With an average of 1,508 daily cases over the past week, Florida’s trend is the lowest since April 5th.
- Medical examiners have determined the most of Florida’s Ian attributed deaths were due to drowning. Of the 103 confirmed Florida deaths attributed to Hurricane Ian evaluated by medical experts, almost all were due to drowning – most were adults over 60.
