- As of the most recent update from the Florida Division of Elections, over 4.6 million Floridians have voted either by mail or through early in-person voting. Florida is second only to Texas in total votes cast thus far. Democrats continue to maintain a lead with vote by mail ballots, while Republicans have voted in much larger numbers with early voting. Republicans have outvoted Democrats by 337,185 votes thus far. Polls are open from 7am to 7pm tomorrow on Election Day.
- Subtropical storm Nicole has formed east of the Bahamas and is expected to impact our coast with tropical storm force conditions Wednesday into Thursday. The National Hurricane Center has issued tropical storm watches for the potentially impacted islands and its likely advisories will be issued for the east coast of Florida later today.
- Gas prices edged higher over the weekend, and the current average is $3.46 per gallon statewide, In Southeast Florida prices range from a low of $3.46 per gallon in Broward, to an average high of $3.63 per gallon in the Palm Beaches. Prices are 17 cents higher over a week ago, which was the last day the state’s gas tax wasn’t being collected.
- The Florida Board of Medicine has banned the use of puberty-blockers, hormone treatments and surgeries for those under the age of 18. The new rules which were adopted Friday, are in line with the recommendation by the Florida Department of Health’s request which were filed in July. The rules are binding meaning physicians in Florida are bound by them.
