- Subtropical storm Nicole has spawned tropical storm warnings and hurricane watches for most of Florida’s east coast. The current cone for the potential impact of a category 1 hurricane extends from Delray Beach north through Florida’s east coast. Hurricane watches remain in effect from Hallandale Beach to southern Georgia. The timetable for a potential landfall remains Thursday morning with rain and wind gusts starting to impact the coastline as early as this afternoon.
- Governor DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 34 counties, including all counties along Florida’s east coast from Miami-Dade north, in advance of the impact of Nicole.
- Today is Election Day and all polls are open from 7am to 7pm. Anyone who is still holding a vote by mail ballot must drop it off, as opposed to mailing it, in order for it to be counted. Entering Election Day, as of the most recent update from the Florida Division of Elections, nearly 4.8 million Floridians have voted either by mail or through early in-person voting. Florida is second only to Texas in total votes cast thus far. Republicans have outvoted Democrats by over 320,017 votes thus far.
- Gas prices have risen by seven cents per gallon over the past day now averaging $3.53 per gallon statewide. In Southeast Florida prices range from a low of $3.53 per gallon in Miami Dade, to an average high of $3.68 per gallon in the Palm Beaches.
