- Gas prices are a penny lower again today. The current average is $3.53 per gallon statewide, four cents higher than a week ago. In Southeast Florida, prices range from a low of $3.54 per gallon in Miami-Dade, to an average high of $3.69 per gallon in the Palm Beaches.
- AAA is predicting Thanksgiving travel in Florida to be the busiest since a record setting 2005. Nationally, travel is expected to remain below pre-pandemic levels. AAA measures Thanksgiving travel based those who travel 50 miles or more from home.
- Space Florida has authorized $59 million for enhancing the Launch Landing Facility, which is the secure landing location for access to restricted airspace at the Cape used by companies which work with NASA on the Space Program. The expansion aims to continue to allow for future growth of Florida’s public-private partnerships for the space program and will create 50 new jobs. Space Florida is the board Chaired by Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez responsible for the state’s oversight of the space industry within the state.
- The Miami-Dade County Commission has reached a new 50-year $2.8 billion deal with Miami-based Royal Caribbean to retain and expand operations at Port Miami. The current deal preempts the previous contract in place which was set to run through 2033. Under the new deal, Royal Caribbean will overhaul their corporate headquarters at the port and will allow Royal Caribbean access to a new Terminal to be constructed for massive cruise ships which are under development by Royal Caribbean. A total of 12,000 new jobs are expected to be created with the expansion.
