Bottom Line: Your daily recap of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you in South Florida. Gas prices continued lower through the weekend.  

  • Gas prices are a penny lower per gallon today. Statewide the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.37 - seven cents lower than a week ago. In Southeast Florida, prices range from an average low of $3.41 per gallon in Broward, to an average high of $3.58 per gallon in the Palm Beaches. 
  • GoBankingRates has produced a report detailing the most vulnerable housing markets in Florida based on mortgage delinquencies and home vacancy rates. The five most vulnerable according to the report are Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, Miami and Jacksonville in that order.  
  • Four Florida Cities are among the top ten most dangerous for pedestrians according to a new report from Smart Growth America. It’s Dangerous by Design report identified Orlando as the eighth most dangerous for pedestrians with Jacksonville sixth, Tampa Bay fourth and Daytona listed as the most dangerous in the country. 
  • The Florida Legislature has scheduled a special session to address the state’s property insurance crisis for the second time this year. While official confirmation from the governor’s office has yet to occur, the Legislature has scheduled December 12th-16th for a session indicating a proclamation is imminent. 
  • Publix has been named the 2022 “Recycling Champion” by the Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation. The FRPF, which is a collaboration of business and association leaders, identified Publix as having recycled over 615 million pounds of cardboard and over 21 million pounds of soft plastics, largely plastic bags which often go unrecycled, over the past year leading the state in both categories.
