The Future of Florida’s Democrats & DeSantis’ Dunking on the College Board – February 14th, 2023
- If Fried’s the future they’ve got more problems than I’d already suspected. The they with which I’m referring to are Florida’s Democrats. The Fried with which I’m referring has most commonly been associated with weed...which she’s had extra time on her hands to partake in of late after having been unceremoniously dispatched by Democrats in last year’s election cycle. In fact, the bid to become the next chair of the Florida Democratic Party is becoming a who’s who of failed politicians who lost in party primaries last year as she’s joined former state senator Annette Taddeo, who seemingly tried running in everything last year while winning at none of it. One of the notes I received on the back of this news summed it up well. Why is it that losers always try to get leadership positions? It really is interesting that the two perceived front-runners for the post to lead the future of Democrats in Florida are two politicians which were rejected by Florida’s Democrats just last year. Quoting Fried yesterday as she officially filed her paperwork to run: My decision is not one made lightly, it comes after months of listening to friends, advisers and Democrats across the state. And she pledged to rebuild the party from the ground up. Which I guess would be necessary seeing as the current incarnation recently rejected her. In many ways it’s appropriate. Fried’s rapid rise to Agriculture Commissioner and even faster fall from grace in many ways...
- Reflects the realities of the party in Florida. The party has lost credibility just as Fried lost credibility. It was just in November of 2021 that for the first time in Florida’s history registered Republicans outnumbered registered Democrats in the state. It was just a year later when Republicans wiped Democrats out by winning elections statewide in record numbers and with record margins as Florida’s voters rejected the increasingly woke agenda of Democrats, while rewarding the sound leadership of Florida’s Republicans. It marked the immediate turning of Florida having gone from being considered the ultimate swing state to the most prominent red state. Likewise, it was just over a year ago I was pointing out that Nikki Fried was about the only person who hadn’t realized no one took her seriously any longer. As I said in my takeaways January 18th, of last year: This just in... Ron DeSantis is not a Nazi. In the grand scheme of failed politicians, you get all kinds. Jimmy Carter was a generally nice man in way over his head as president. Ditto Joe Biden minus the generally nice man part. Then there’s Nikki Fried. It’s not my intent to put you on the spot, but can you name one accomplishment of Nikki’s in her now three years as Agriculture Commissioner? There’s a good chance you’re more aware of her illegal gas pump stickers with her face plastered on them at the onset of her term than any accomplishment she delivered in her capacity as Agriculture Commissioner. The likely reason, for the fully informed on these matters, comes back to who she really is. A Fort Lauderdale attorney, whose partner is a preeminent marijuana player, masquerading as Agriculture Commissioner which was only ever intended to be a steppingstone to attempting to become governor of Florida. Anyway, you might still be wondering what I’m talking about since my top takeaway was that Ron DeSantis is not a Nazi. While being interviewed by Florida Public Radio, Fried said this: Instead of listening and trying to govern with the people, he is trying to govern over the people, and, you know, that, I’m sorry, I’m a student of history, too. I saw the rise of Hitler. I have studied Hitler and how he got to power, you know, wanting his own militia. This governor is doing it for the sole purposes of power and doing so to make fear and . . . blaming certain parts of our society and culture, and that’s exactly what Hitler did to the Jews back during World War II. Apparently, she thinks that plays in a Democrat primary as she’s currently the underdog against Charlie Crist. I for one don’t think Florida’s rank-and-file Democrat voters are anywhere near that morally bankrupt. Just Nikki Fried. Or as Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez has previously referred to her – “Nikki Weed”. Her career as a politician can’t be relegated to the dustbin of history fast enough. Which as it turns out, I was right, and she was. But fast forward a year later and she wants to remake the reeling party in Florida presumably with people as radical as her. And the thing is, she just might win that post whether Florida’s Democrat voters want her or not given the ever increasingly wokeness of the left. So now the two leading candidates to lead Florida’s Democrat party into the future are two which were just rejected by the party’s voters. And the favorite of those two publicly compares our Governor to Adolf Hitler...hence my top takeaway today... If Fried’s the future they’ve got more problems than I’d already suspected. But back to our governor because there was news on him yesterday as he said the state needed to...
- Reevaluate its relationship with The College Board. Yes, from the board that put Black queer form building into an AP course and just Saturday said the state of Florida “slandered” it for doing so, along with acknowledging “mistakes” were made by the board. Governor DeSantis issued the state’s first response to the suggestion they’d been slandered by saying. At the end of the day, we highlighted things that were very problematic. It wasn't just people like me saying that – across the political spectrum, people were saying that. You know, this really is junk. Why don't we just do and teach the things that matter? Why is it always someone has to try and shove their agenda down our throats? I would also just say – this College Board, nobody elected them to anything. They're just kind of there, and they're providing service. So you can either utilize those services or not. And so they've provided these AP courses for a long time, but, you know, there are probably some other vendors who may be able to do that job as good, or maybe even a lot better, 'I think the legislature is going to look to reevaluate how Florida's doing that. No doubt, there’s a lot of revaluating that needs to be done within the education establishment.
