- Gas prices were flat yesterday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded remains $3.33 per gallon – nine cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the price was flat remaining $3.53 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
- South Florida’s home prices rose by the largest percentage in the country over the past year. A new Redfin report analyzing all major metros nationally pegged South Florida’s average home price rising by 13% last year, with prices in the Palm Beaches rising by an average of 13%. The report notes that The Florida market will likely be more resilient as it provides an attractive and affordable alternative to places like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
- Meteorologists have determined that La Nina has ended. The La Nina cycle which impacts ocean temperatures and trade winds, has been the prevailing cycle during hurricane season in recent years. It’s a spurs additional tropical development during the Atlantic hurricane season. As a result a less active season with lower chances for a direct Florida impact is likely.
- Movers in Thursday’s state legislative session included legislation allowing private and Florida Virtual school students to play sports for charter school teams, the bill prohibiting the tracking of Firearms and Ammunition purchases, Palm Beach County state Rep. Rick Roth’s bill to fast-track crops that might be spoiled making their way to food banks and the bill which would ban the use of social media networks on public school devices advanced.
