- Florida’s special state legislative session commenced yesterday with a stated focus, according to Governor DeSantis, on legislation aimed combating illegal immigration in addition to condo association reforms, hurricane relief measures and additional funds for Florida’s My Safe Florida home program. That session also abruptly ended yesterday as the legislature voted to end it and instead called their own special session with their own agenda focused on illegal immigration.
- ICE Raids are continuing throughout South Florida. ICE has announced multiple arrests of criminal illegal aliens in Broward County in addition to a detainer on a Mexican national currently serving a jail sentence in the Martin County jail. He’ll be turned over to ICE upon completing his sentence.
- The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced the initial results of the recently announced high visibility zero-tolerance patrols in busy intersections with high numbers of pedestrian accidents. On Saturday 98 traffic stops were made resulting in 2 felony arrests, 13 criminal citations and 115 traffic citations. PBSO will continue with the campaign going forward.
- After starting in the 50’s we’ll have mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70’s - typical for this date. Similar but slightly warmer weather is expected for the rest of the week.
- Gas prices dropped three cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.18 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.31 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.19 and in Indian River County the average is $3.20 per gallon.
