- Florida’s rate of flu spread has fallen to ‘moderate’, the lowest level this year, according to the CDC’s weekly data. Over the past week the rate of spread of flu and flu-like activity has declined in 65 of Florida’s 67 counties – including Florida’s entire east coast except for Indian River County – where new cases have been flat over the past week. RSV cases continue to decline across much of the state as well with cases decreasing in Palm Beach County and Indian River County most recently, however the number cases in Martin County have risen over the past week.
- The Palm Beach County School District has pulled its sex ed curriculum after failing to receive authorization from the state. Known as the Human Growth & Development program, material was taught on a theoretically grade-appropriate basis for one week annually in the spring.
- Nightly closures of the US 1 Jupiter Bridge for eastbound traffic began Sunday night and will continue through Thursday from 9 pm to 6 am daily as construction continues. Alternate A1A and Indiantown Road are being used as a detour during the closures.
- Warm and windy today with a chance of late afternoon thunderstorms as a cool front moves into the area. Highs in the low 80’s – which is warmer than usual for this date. The lows will be back in the 50’s with highs in the 70’s Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Gas prices fell through the weekend and are similar to a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.07 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.22 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.07 and in Indian River County the average is $3.03 per gallon.
