- Florida ranks 5th in the 2026 Tax Foundation’s Tax Competitiveness index – down from 4th a year ago. The annual study reflects over 150 ways taxation impacts citizens and businesses within each state, across five primary categories of taxation to create an overall picture of tax burdens. Florida’s tied for first in individual income tax rate, with the lowest ranking of 20th – for property taxation.
- Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a joint sting operation entitled: Operation All Tricks, No Treats – has led to the arrest of six suspects charged with child sex crimes in Martin County. Three of the six suspects are illegal immigrants.
- Florida CFO Blaise Ingoglia was at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday to announce that the state was awarding over $2 million to local law enforcement agencies for their participation in immigration enforcement as part of ICE’s 287(g) program. St. Lucie Sherriff’s Office received nearly $999 thousand, PBSO netted $994 thousand and Indian River County received just over $93 thousand.
- Cooler than usual temps to start with sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 70's. The Saharan dust cycle appears to have ended for the season.

- Gas prices fell a penny per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.95 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.10 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.98, it’s $2.97 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.94 per gallon.
