- Governor DeSantis signed the Florida Farm Bill into law on Monday. The new law implements several policies favored by the agriculture industry in addition to preventing high-density development in agricultural and conservation areas, access to a new loan repayment program for veterinarians of farm animals, strengthens Florida’s CDL law, limits unwanted home solicitations and bans jamming devices used against law enforcement and first responders.
- Today is Election Day for voters in Florida’s 87th District between Democrat Emily Gregory and Republican Jon Maples and in the North Group 4 special election with three candidates vying for the seat in North Palm Beach. Polls are open from 7 am to 7 pm today. You'll vote at your assigned polling location.
- Boca Raton mayoral candidate Mike Liebelson, has sued mayoral winner Andy Thomson, his consultant and a PAC supporting his campaign, for alleged defamation and conspiracy pertaining to campaign materials distributed to voters. Thomson was determined to have won the election over Liebelson by five votes.
- Amid the continued partial government shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, wait times improved at Palm Beach International Airport on Monday. The average time to clear through security at PBI totaled 19 minutes and 24 seconds on Monday, which was just over ten minutes faster compared to weekend wait times. President Trump deployed ICE to assist TSA to reduce wait times at 14 airports on Monday. One airport in Florida, the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers is among those with ICE officers assisting TSA agents.
- It’ll be sunny and warm again today with a high in the low 80’s throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast. We can expect similar weather tomorrow as well for the Palm Beaches. Rain chances increase for parts of the Treasure Coast on Wednesday.
- Gas prices were a penny lower per gallon on Monday, with the average price for regular unleaded currently at $3.92 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.07 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.97, it’s $3.93 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.95 per gallon.
