- Governor DeSantis signed the Florida Save Act into law on Wednesday. The new law, which will take effect January 1st of next year after the midterm elections, requires verification of U.S. citizenship using REAL ID data for new and updated voter registrations, establishes a uniform process to identify and remove potentially ineligible noncitizens from voter rolls, requires supervisors of elections to investigate and take appropriate action in reconciling voter rolls – among the many changes.
- The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has taken down an organized baby formula theft ring that began in Palm Beach County and extended to five other counties. Authorities identified 47 different thefts of baby formula from CVS, Publix, Target, Walmart and Winn-Dixie locations totaling tens of thousands of dollars dating back to February of last year.
- Amid the continued partial government shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, wait times continued to improve at Palm Beach International Airport on Tuesday. The average time to clear through security at PBI averaged 13 minutes on Wednesday – which was about a minute longer than usual but that is normal.
- It’ll be gusty along the coast with clouds increasing throughout the day and a chance of afternoon and evening showers with a high in the low 80’s throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast – which is typical for this date.
- Gas prices rose again on Wednesday to reach fresh 3.5-year highs with the average price for regular unleaded currently at $4.23 per gallon - a penny higher than yesterday. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.36 per gallon, in Martin the average is $4.26, it’s $4.26 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $4.24 per gallon.
