- Governor DeSantis signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Florida and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland aimed at expanding scientific research. The MOU establishes a framework for the University of Florida and the University of St. Andrews to pursue joint research, faculty and student exchange opportunities, and strategic academic engagement across mutual areas of interest—including quantum, marine and physical sciences—and innovation and economic engagement.
- 49 arrests have been made in a narcotics trafficking takedown across the state, according to AG James Uthmeier. Dubbed Operation ICE Breaker II, law enforcement traced fentanyl, meth and cocaine operations leading to the arrests of suspects across five counties.
- The Martin County Sheriff’s office arrested the suspect they believe is behind the extensive theft of GPS equipment from boats in the area. Miami resident Robert Esposito has been arrested and charged with the theft of the boating equipment stolen from boats from Hobe Sound to Stuart. Esposito has been charged with 10 counts of grand theft, 8 counts of burglary and 8 counts of crossing county lines to commit the crimes.

The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Weather Outlook is clear for the next seven days as Tropical Storm Bertha quickly dissipated after landfall as a weak storm in Texas. Persistent Saharan dust from the coast of Africa extends over most of the southern and mid-Atlantic with dust extending into the Caribbean Sea and into the Gulf of America.
- The price of gas rose by 4 cents per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded fuel is currently $3.98 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.12 per gallon, in Martin the average is $4.00, it’s $3.99 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.99 per gallon.
