- Governor DeSantis has returned from his International Business Development Mission to the United Kingdom touting numerous successes during the mission including: The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Space Florida and the UK Space Agency to advance international space collaboration, the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Florida and the University of St. Andrews— in expanding science research, collaboration and international study opportunities between the two universities, and British Airways adding 18 flights between Orlando and London Heathrow.
- A magistrate judge ruled that the Mangonia Park-based non-profit Extraordinary Kids Foundation has 90 days to come into compliance with two code violations. The non-profit which focuses on the needs of children with special needs and a weekly community outreach event serving food, showers, haircuts and household items to those in need was found to have operated services out of a trailer and renting space on its property without permits. Failure to comply after 90 days could result in fines starting at $100 per day.
- Lobster mini season kicks off today and runs through midnight tomorrow. The annual two-day event allows those with a recreational saltwater fishing license and a lobster permit to harvest up to 12 lobsters per person per day, except in Monroe County and in Biscayne National Park where the limit is 6 per person per day. All lobsters must be mature, and egg-bearing lobsters cannot be harvested.
- It'll be partly cloudy and hot with a chance of showers. A heat advisory is back in place from Palm Beach County south today as highs will be in the low to mid 90’s in the Palm Beaches and low 90’s along the Treasure Coast – warmer than usual for this date. Similar weather is expected through the rest of the week. The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Weather Outlook is clear for the next seven days. Persistent Saharan dust from the coast of Africa extends over most of the southern and mid-Atlantic with dust extending over the Caribbean, Cuba, with another round just starting to enter the Gulf of America.
- The price of gas dropped another 2 cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded fuel is currently $3.92 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.09 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.91, it’s $3.94 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.93 per gallon.
