The race for Congressional District 20 is in our Election Spotlight.
Democrat Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won a special election in January to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Congressman Alcee Hastings. She then won the August primary and is being challenged by Republican, Dr. Drew Montez Clark.
He's a chiropractor who is running on a platform of "Fighting for Faith, Families and Constitutional Freedom."
While he stops short of saying the 2020 Presidential election was stolen, Dr. Montez-Clark says the way some states won was unconstitutional.
"I can pull out right now a pocket Constitution that I have in my book and it will tell you that no one has the ability to change the time, manner or place but the legislative body."
Cherfilus-McCormick touts the endorsement of the U.S. Speaker of the House. her challenger has his thoughts on that.
"I don't know many people from my perspective, and I don't think that my constituency would say that they want another Nancy Pelosi in their backyard, but that's actually what they have at this particular moment."
We also got Montez-Clark's thoughts on issues including illegal immigration.
We've reached out to Representative Cherfilus-McCormick's campaign during the primary and ahead of the general election and have never heard back.
