There is one judicial race on the ballot in Palm Beach County this month. It's for County Court Judge, Group 12.
Longtime Judge Debra Moses Stephens is retiring and two candidates are vying for this seat.
Jacob Noble has been an attorney for over 20 years, working at the Public Defenders office for about three years in Palm Beach County, but now operates his own private practice for over 17 years, focusing these days primarily on appeals, criminal defense and guardianship cases.
Noble on what makes him the best candidate in this race.
"I am the only person in this race who has both civil and criminal experience. I have had over 50 jury trials. I know the law. I appreciate the law and this is an aspect that I really believe I can undertake."
Noble faces Schnelle Tonge on the August 18th ballot.
She has worked for the Palm Beach County Public Defenders office for 20 years, spending time in all the divisions, and now heads up the Mental Health Division, where she works with people charged with felonies who have a severe mental illness.
"My history in public service makes me the best candidate. I've appeared in front of many judges, made many arguments in all different types of cases. I think that has taught me many transferable skills that will be very useful on the bench."
With only two candidates on the primary ballot, this race will almost certainly be decided this month.
