Legislation Would Designate Pulse Nightclub a National Memorial

Members of Central Florida's congressional delegation are proposing legislation that would make the Pulse nightclub a national memorial.

The proposal was unveiled at the closed Orlando nightclub, three-years after 49 people were murdered there.

Congresswomen Stephanie Murphy and Val Demings and Congressman Darren Soto proposed the bill and are now looking for more co-sponsors on Capitol Hill.

The measure would put the site under the supervision of the National Park Service, but still allow local leaders to manage what happens on the property.

The OnePulse foundation is still working on a permanent memorial to the tragedy that is expected to be ready by 2022.
