Florida Attorney General Launches Investigation Into Vaping Companies

The number of vaping-related illnesses reported in Florida has grown to 68, and that has the state's top attorney acting.

“As a mother, I cannot sit on the sidelines while underage vaping skyrockets and our next generation becomes addicted to nicotine," says Attorney General Ashley Moody.

With last year recording the greatest increase ever in a rise of teens addicted to a substance, she's not waiting for the federal government to act, she's launching an investigation into more than 20 vaping companies that operate in the state, "to determine if they have intentionally targeted minors, tempting them to vape, and will also seek information to determine if these companies can support their marketing and health claims."

She says eight in 10 middle and high school students claim they've seen online advertising for vaping products, and one in four high schoolers admit to vaping. She believes it's actually higher.
