Nearly 800 Pounds Of Sand Brought In For West Palm Beach Holiday Tree

A holiday tradition will continue in West Palm Beach this year.

The first truckloads of sand arrive Tuesday to the downtown waterfront.

It will take nearly 800 tons of sand to build Sandi Tree, billed as the world's only 35-foot holiday tree made entirely of sand.

As many as 12 trucks per day will roll into West Palm Beach and the sculpting will begin next week.

This year's theme for Sandi is "Surf's Up."

The tree will be lit up during a special Clematis By Night on Thursday, December 5th and Sandi will remain on display on the Great Lawn, along North Clematis Street, west of Flagler, through New Year's Eve.
