Jupiter's police chief is talking a bout the raises being given to his employees.
Dan Kerr says the police union and the town worked out a three year deal to increased the minimum starting salary for officers and sergeants by $2,000 to $58,000 a year.
"They were compared to the salaries of the other jurisdictions around us, you know all the other police departments (and) Sheriff's department. And they negotiated a contract that has gotten them in line with everyone else."
He says officers who are already on the payroll will be entitled to step increases if they pass evaluations.
There are 117 sworn officers under Chief Kerr's command, serving 65,000 full-time residents.
