Sunscreen Ban Goes Before Full Senate Today

All eyes on the sunscreen ban bill in the Florida Senate. The full Senate holding a floor session to take a vote on the bill that would block local regulation on over-the-counter drugs and cosmetics, including all types of sunscreen. Supporters-like South Florida Democratic Senator Lauren Book-says it doesn't make sense to regulate sunscreen in the sunshine state. Opponents are throwing shade at the ban -worried sunscreens containing certain chemicals like oxybenzone will wreak havoc on coral reefs, especially in the Keys. The Key West City Commission already voted to ban the sale of certain sunscreens beginning next year.
