Florida Man Shakes Boy's Hand, Breathes in Face, Tells Him He Has COVID

TREASURE ISLAND-- A Pinellas County man is facing misdemeanor charges after police say he confronted a boy over his face mask.

According to the complaint, 48-year-old Jason Copenhaver was at Ricky T's Bar and Grille Sunday, walked up to a boy and asked if he was wearing a face mask. Copenhaver told him to take it off, then asked if he could shake the child's hand. The boy refused, but police say Copenhaver grabbed his hand and held it tightly. Then he leaned into the boy's face and said "You now have coronavirus."

The complaint says Copenhaver was so close that spit landed in the victim's face.

Afterwards, police say Copenhaver told them he is unsure if he has COVID-19 and has never been tested.
