Schools Push Back as USF Seeks to Drop Bachelor's Education Program

TAMPA -- The University of South Florida is looking at getting rid of its undergraduate program...

and that has school districts in nearby counties worried.

USF College of Education Dean Judith Ponticell says fewer students are signing up, with enrollment down 63 percent from a decade ago.

Local school superintendents held an emergency virtual meeting Friday. They say USF contributes as much as 25 percent of their new teacher pool each year, depending on the county, and alternative sources of new teachers aren't on the same level.
