Miya's Law Focusing On Background Checks

A push to require landlords to conduct background checks in Tallahassee.

Miya's Law is named after 19-year-old Miya Marcano, allegedly killed by a maintenance worker at her apartment complex in Orlando.

Senator Linda Stewart says Floridians assume they'll be safe when they sign a lease.

If the proposed legislation passes, it would require background checks for apartment complex employees and 24 hour notice for workers to enter apartments.
