Dozens of storage units robbed leaving owners with nothing but questions

Thieves stole tens of thousands of dollars in valuables, including more than 200 pairs of collectible shoes, from dozens of storage units in Southwest Miami-Dade.

Victims of Tuesday’s robbery say CubeSmart management told them the robbers arrived at the facility on Southwest 75th Avenue near Bird Road around midnight Tuesday; spending hours looting the units.

One man claims 200 pairs of shoes valued at more than $100,000 were stolen from his storage unit.

The victim said the thieves stole the most expensive pairs; leaving approximately 80 shoes behind.

Victims said they're frustrated and feel a lack of security at the facility made the thefts possible.

Victims say they weren’t notified of the burglary by CubeSmart management until they arrived at the facility for other reasons.

"I found out because yesterday I stopped by to pick up four shoes I have to send out today, and I saw police tape," said one of the victims.

Miami-Dade Police are investigating the robberies.

Anyone with information the case are encouraged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
