Man who smashed coin machine in guerrilla mask arrested

ENGLEWOOD, FL. — Police have arrested a man who was filmed wearing an ape mask while smashing a coin machine with a sledge hammer at a South Florida laundromat.

Surveillance cameras captured the suspect and his accomplice, identified by police as Michael Rowe and Taylor Farrell, breaking into the coin machine at an Englewood laundromat on May 8th.

During the smash and grab, Rowe wore an ape mask and Farrell was filmed wearing a ‘Don’t New York My Florida’ T-shirt.

Police say Rowe smashed into the machine, took $800 in cash and took off in a blue Mercury Marquis.

Charlotte County deputies arrested Rowe and Farrell after tips came in when images of the surveillance video were released to the public.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office thanked the community for their help.
