A 37-year-old woman from Sarasota was arrested early this morning in the emergency room of Blake Hospital in Bradenton after she was seen on surveillance video actively loading a weapon in her purse. Bradenton police responded within minutes, and body cam video shows officers surrounding Jamekeyra Ulisa Levertt-Chapman and taking her into custody.
Officers seized a fully loaded Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 semi-automatic handgun. The suspect's purse contained one 50-round drum-style magazine with 36 loaded rounds; two magazines containing a total of 13 loaded rounds, and 14 loose rounds. No shots were fired, and no one was hurt.
Chapman was charged with introducing a firearm into a hospital and possession of a concealed weapon without a permit.
