7-year-old donates piggy bank money to victims of Hurricane Ian

Bourbonnais, IL - A 7-year-old Illinois boy's generosity has raised more than $12,000 for victims of Hurricane Ian.

Dominic D'Andrea from Bourbonnais, IL made a video announcing he was donating the $288 saved in his piggy bank to victims of the Hurricane.

The 7-year-old said he wanted to donate the money because he loves Florida.

Since posting the video, more than $12,000 of donations have been raised by hundreds of people across the country.

Dominic's mother, Jaclyn, says the family is "just overwhelmed. I don’t have words to describe how our lives have been like the last couple of days by the amount of donations that have come in."

Jaclyn is taking a truckload of donations to Southwest Florida and will be distributing them at the Fort Myers S.T.A.R.S. complex starting on Friday
