Miami-Dade Mayor Promises To Look Into Quarry Blasts

Miami-Dade County's mayor is, in her words, very alarmed by what's going on in Miami Lakes. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava attended a public meeting yesterday to discuss rock mining. City residents say the blasting from a limestone quarry is causing cracks in the foundations of their properties. Former Miami Lakes Mayor Nelson Rodriguez says the blasting is also scaring people and causing psychological problems. The problem is not new, in fact, it's been an issue that residents in both NW Miami-Dade and portions of Miramar have reported for over a decade...to no avail.

Levine Cava says she's going to see if there's any action her office can take.
