A former polo mogul who's serving 16-years for DUI Manslaughter is trying to get a new trial.

John Goodman is the founder of the Wellington Polo Club.

He was convicted in the death of 23-year old Scott Wilson after driving drunk and crashing his Bentley into the college student's Hyundai back in 2010.

But Goodman, at an evidence hearing, is claiming he got poor legal counsel.

A toxicology expert testified about the number of drinks Goodman had that night, while the millionaire has insisted he only had a few drinks earlier in the evening.

He has blamed his blood alcohol level on straight liquor he claims to have chugged down after the crash as a way to kill his pain.

Goodman says the state did not properly draw his blood when the test was done.

The judge hearing arguments again on Thursday and says he will make a decision later.

Goodman was initially found guilty in 2012, but the appeals court overturned the conviction because of juror misconduct. Goodman was tried a second time in 2014 and was convicted.

He also unsuccessfully tried to get the U.S. Supreme Court to review his case in 2018 after the Florida Supreme Court had rejected his appeal earlier that year.

As it stands, Goodman is scheduled to be released from prison on August 1, 2028. If he gets his way, he may get out a lot sooner.
