Osceola County, FL - A Florida teenager is facing serious charges after being accused of attacking a family member with a baseball bat.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a battery at a residence in St. Cloud on September 21st.
The victim told responding officers that she returned home from grocery shopping with a friend when the 16-year-old, who lives in the same house, began shouting at her.
The arrest affidavit states that the suspect threatened to harm the woman and proceeded to use a baseball bat to vandalize items within the home.
When the woman attempted to intervene and stop him, the suspect struck her in the stomach with the bat.
Both the woman and her friend escaped the house while the teenager continued to cause destruction inside before fleeing.
Law enforcement deployed a sheriff's office dog to apprehend the teenager, who concealed himself in dense shrubbery and debris to evade capture.
Following the incident, the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries inflicted by the sheriff's office dog.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says that the 16-year-old has been taken into custody on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest without violence, and two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
