Broward Sheriff's Office Faces Lawsuit From Chopper Crash Victim's Family

The Broward Sheriff's Office is reportedly about to get served.

There are reports that the family of the woman killed in the rescue helicopter crash in Pompano Beach in July are filing suit, naming the department in legal proceedings.

Sheriff Gregory Tony says the whole scenario is unfortunate.

65 year old Lurean Wheaton was asleep when the helicopter crashed into her Pompano Beach apartment nearly a month ago. 50 year old BSO Battalion Chief Terryson Jackson was also killed in the crash along with 65 Laurean Wheaton, who was asleep in her apartment when the chopper came down.

The Wheaton family's seeking $50 million in damages.
