Volusia County, FL - A dispute during a pickleball match at a Florida country club led to arrests after deputies said a disagreement over game rules allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation involving several players.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the incident happened at Spruce Creek Country Club in Port Orange and prompted a law enforcement response after multiple people reported injuries.
Investigators said the conflict allegedly began when a 63 year old man argued with other players about a rule involving the non volley zone commonly referred to as the kitchen. Witness statements included in the arrest affidavit claim the argument continued after the game ended and eventually turned physical.
Deputies allege the man punched another player and struck him with a pickleball paddle, causing injuries that required medical attention.
Authorities also said he allegedly pushed a woman to the ground and punched a man older than 65 who attempted to intervene in the situation.
A 51 year old woman allegedly joined the confrontation and is accused in the arrest report of striking an older individual during the altercation.
Deputies said both suspects left the scene before later being located and taken into custody.
The 63 year old man faces charges including aggravated battery causing bodily harm and multiple counts of battery on a person over 65, while the 51 year old woman is charged with battery on a senior citizen.
Officials said the investigation relied on witness accounts and statements collected at the scene, and the case remains active.
