Palm Springs North residents were right when they thought a tornado was tearing through their neighborhood yesterday afternoon.
After surveying the damage this morning, the National Weather Service has confirmed an EF0 tornado hit the Northwest Miami-Dade County neighborhood after a supercell crossed I-75 and the Turnpike shortly before 5:00 p.m.
The 85 mile-per-hour twister traveled about a half mile.
Homeowners say patio furniture was tossed around, a boat toppled and trees and fences knocked down.
