Members of South Florida's Congressional delegation this week sent letters to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FEMA, officially requesting reimbursement for extra costs to protect President Trump during his local visits.
The letters, signed by U.S. Representatives Ted Deutch, Lois Frankel, Alcee Hastings, Brian Mast, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Frederica Wilson, ask for the $3.7 million estimated to have been spent on overtime pay for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office while President-Elect Trump was in Palm Beach before inauguration and the seven visits he has made since taking office.
In May, Congress appropriated more than $60 million to cover such costs incurred when the President is staying outside D.C.
Wasserman-Schultz and Wilson are included on these letters because of the Broward Sheriff's Deputies who pitched in to help the Secret Service.
