Something that may surprise you...the Executive Director of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League estimates that there are about 220,000 feral cats in Palm Beach County.
To keep their population under control the West Palm Beach shelter put 87 of the kittens that had been at Peggy Adams on a plane, bound for New England Wednesday. Those cats will be put up for adoption by shelters in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
The cost to transport the animals was covered by donations.
Close to 40 cats were sent on a flight to New York last month and another flight is being planned to the Northeast for August to transport another 100 cats.
Peggy Adams boasts a save rate of 97 percent for dogs and 83 percent for cats, and says they never euthanize healthy animals.
For folks who can't adopt, temporary foster options are available.
