A Boynton Beach Police officer saved the life of a gator that had decided to relax at the front door of a home in the Hunter's Run community.
The police department released body cam video of Officer Alfredo Vargas wrangling in the alligator by placing his rain coat over the animal's head and then grabbing it by hand.
The officer called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, but was told it would take one of their officers a half hour to respond and that the alligator would likely be put down for being a nuisance. So, Vargas drove the gator to a canal, pulled the tape off of its mouth and let it go.
The officer took training for handling alligators.
