Boynton Beach Accepts Applications From Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

US-HOLIDAY-INDEPENDENCE DAY-MARIJUANA-MARKET

Another city votes to accept applications from medical marijuana dispensaries that want to open in the municipality.

The vote last week by the Boynton Beach Commission was 3-2 in favor.

Under state law, cities accepting dispensaries can't limit the number of them, which is the reason at least one of the two commissioners voted against the issue.  Christina Romelus is concerned the vote opens the city up to dispensaries all over the city.

Two such dispensaries are scheduled to open within the next month in Lake Worth, including one that is right across the street from a charter school on Dixie Highway.  The principal of that school is challenging it.

Royal Palm Beach has banned the businesses and Palm Beach County Commissioners are voting this month on an ordinance that would allow the dispensaries in unincorporated areas of the county.
