Charlottesville: Vigil Held In WPB & Local Congressmen React To President

Charlottesville Alt Right Rally

A vigil was held in downtown West Palm Beach Sunday night, in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend.

Local chapters of the Women's March and the Democratic Socialists of America, were among the groups that organized the event near the fountain on Clematis Street.  There was a similar event in Stuart.

Meanwhile, Palm Beach County's representatives in Congress are sharing their thoughts about the deadly attack on a group of counter-protesters at a White Nationalist Rally.

President Trump on Saturday said "We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides," but his critics say he should come out and call it an act of "white supremacist terror."

Congressman Ted Deutch tweeted in part, "On many sides? White nationalists, alt-right, neo-Nazis, and KKK must be condemned for racism, anti-Semitism, and hatred."

Congresswoman Lois Frankel tweeted that she "emphatically condemns the violence, terror, and hatred" in Charlottesville caused by "white supremacists."
