If it seems busier around town, it's not your imagination. The county's tourism marketing agency confirms that, like the state as a whole, there were a record number of tourists here during the first half of the year.
Discover the Palm Beaches announced that 4.2 million visitors came here, up 8.7 percent from January through June of last year.
The agency has been advertising in a number of American cities, which accounted for a boost of 18 percent of visitors from Washington D.C. and 13 percent more tourists from New York over the same time in 2016.
Part of the credit for the record local tourism numbers is being given to a marketing campaign titled "Friends Trust Friends Not Ads" in which residents and visitors have been encouraged to share photos and videos of their favorite moments in the Palm Beaches on social media with the hashtag #ThePalmBeaches.
In 2016, a record-breaking 7.35 million visitors traveled to Palm Beach County and we're on track to set another record.
We previously reported that the state set another record for the number of tourists who visited during the first six months of the year. 60.7 million came to Florida.
