More than 275 credit card skimmers have been discovered at gas pumps throughout Florida so far this year, with sixty of those here in Palm Beach County. But, experts now have a way for you to find out whether there is a skimmer in place, waiting to steal your card information.
Often times, crooks use Bluetooth to get the info without physically going back into the pump. So, if you go to "settings" on your smart phone and hit "Bluetooth," and you see a long string of numbers and letters trying to connect, that's your cue to alert the cashier inside that a skimmer may be present.
Authorities advise you to never use your debit card at the pump.
